Three routes through the heart of the S’Albufera des Grau Natural Park
The Natural Park of s’Albufera des Grau, in the northeast of the Island, has more than 5,000 hectares, terrestrial and marine. It is a good activity for lovers of hiking and nature who are enjoying a motorcycle vacation in Menorca. Since it allows you to discover a good part of its environmental wealth through the routes within the park and it also allows you to go by motorcycle to one of its extremes, Cap de Fàvaritx, or get to know its neighboring towns such as Es Grau or Port d’Addaia.
Inside the park, which has a reception center to inform and guide the visit, three itineraries can be done on foot.
Sa Gola – Of low difficulty and with a distance of 1.70 km (45 minutes). This itinerary runs through the Sa Gola canal and the dune area of Es Grau beach. It is very pleasant to do it in summer, due to the shade of the pine forest and its proximity to the sea. This route starts in Es Grau. The path is flat and offers a good opportunity to enjoy the park’s seascape, the viewpoint of the Sa Gola point, the fishing corrals and the dune system.
Santa Madrona – Of low difficulty and with a total route of 2.8 km (approximately 1 hour). This is the best route for observing waterfowl as it borders the southwest coast of s’Albufera des Grau and passes close to the lagoon. It has various viewpoints and observatories and therefore it is advisable to do it calmly and stop at all its places of interest. The route begins in the reception center and passes through Punta de ses Ànedes, the wet area of the cove of Santa Madrona and Es Prat. The islets inside the lagoon and the agrarian activity in the Park are observed
Llimpa cove viewpoint – difficult and with a distance of 1.70 km (45 minutes). The Visitor Reception Center provides all the information necessary to make this itinerary, the one that offers the greatest landscape value and the least known of the three that border S’Albufera des Grau. It runs through the southeast part of the lagoon. It is recommended to follow it calmly, stopping at the points of interest and looking at the plant diversity, among which orchids are found.
