On August 29 and 30, the Menorcan town of Sant Lluís celebrates its patron saint festivities, festivals that actually last for a whole week and are guaranteed fun for those who do tourism in Menorca on a rental motorcycle (for course).
The Sant Lluís festivities, as in the rest of the towns and cities of Menorca, also have their main protagonist in the Menorcan horse and in a series of acts, of ancient tradition, in which a colorful scenery unique in the world is developed .
The horsemen (caixers) represent the different social strata of yesteryear, the priest, the mayor, the peasant, a bachelor, a married man… and with their elegant costumes they participate in a series of colorful and very amusing acts.

Relevant acts of the Sant Lluís Festival

The reading of the proclamation, which marks the official start of the party on the Friday before the patron’s day.
The departure of the procession, the cavalcade or “colcada”, takes place on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Walk the streets of Sant Lluís before attending religious events (Las Completes and Missa de Caixers).
The ‘jaleo’ is celebrated after the religious acts in the plaza. Horses leap to the rhythm of music through the crowd.
Sant Lluís also stars in a colorful parade of floats during its festivities in which practically the entire town is involved.
