{"id":7411,"date":"2020-05-27T11:09:06","date_gmt":"2020-05-27T09:09:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rideon.es\/en\/?p=7411"},"modified":"2020-10-27T13:16:35","modified_gmt":"2020-10-27T12:16:35","slug":"a-foray-into-the-prehistoric-past-of-menorca-through-the-trepuco-village","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rideon.es\/en\/a-foray-into-the-prehistoric-past-of-menorca-through-the-trepuco-village\/","title":{"rendered":"A foray into the prehistoric past of Menorca through the Trepuc\u00f3 Village"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A foray into the prehistoric past of Menorca through the Trepuc\u00f3 Village<\/p>\n<p>Menorca has a very rich and well-preserved megalithic archaeological heritage, a past that is present in monuments such as the Trepuc\u00f3 de Ma\u00f3 Village, the Naveta des Tudons in Ciutadella or the Paleo-Christian Basilica of Son Bou, among others.<br \/>\nThe prehistoric wealth of Menorca can be revived in some of its emblematic caves and in the taules or sanctuaries, navetas, necropolis, deposits and talaiots that still remain standing in many parts of the territory.<br \/>\nAlso through its museums we have the opportunity to learn about the multiple archaeological finds that have taken place in Menorca, the remains of human activity that have been found in places now inaccessible, such as the Caves of Pas, Carritx and Es Mussol.<br \/>\nOur proposal to enjoy today the best routes in <a href=\"https:\/\/rideon.es\/en\/menorca\/\">Menorca on a rental motorbike<\/a> stops at the Trepuc\u00f3 Village, on the outskirts of Ma\u00f3.<br \/>\nIn the direction of Sant Llu\u00eds, and just two kilometers from the capital, Trepuc\u00f3 offers the possibility of delving into the prehistoric ways of life on the Island and understanding how its first human settlements developed.<br \/>\nThe town was excavated by the English archaeologist Margaret Murray in 1931 and that same year it was declared a Historic Artistic Monument.<br \/>\nThe Trepuc\u00f3 Village occupies an area of \u200b\u200babout 5,000 square meters. In this space part of the settlement is preserved: some sections of the original wall that protected it, two square towers on the west wall, two talaiots, the taula enclosure (the sanctuary) and some remains of houses.<br \/>\nIn the town, there are different areas between the talaiot and the sanctuary, and another area for domestic use. In which today we can see the configuration of the houses thanks to recent excavations. These houses have a central patio and several peripheral dependencies. And in them very well preserved domestic tools have been found that are exhibited in the Museum of Menorca.<br \/>\nThe visit to the Trepuc\u00f3 Village is free. It has free entry with uninterrupted hours to be able to be visited at any time of the day.
